At Bloomhill, we commit to make every effort and each moment matter.

Where to Start?

I’m a carer of someone with cancer

At Bloomhill we are just as dedicated to caring for our carers, as we are to caring for our clients diagnosed with cancer.

We recognise that caring for someone who is facing cancer can be all consuming and stressful – often times resulting in lives being put on hold while time and energy is focused towards assisting your loved one in their cancer experience.

A carer can be a spouse, relative, friend or neighbour who is providing short or long-term support or care for someone facing a life-limiting diagnosis of cancer.

If this is you, and you would like support, please reach out to our nursing team who will suggest care services you could benefit from. Please find a list of services available to carers in the side bar menu, for your perusal.

I’ve lost someone to cancer

Have you lost someone to cancer?

We are painfully aware that although new treatments have changed the long-term outcomes for many with cancer, it still causes loss of life for many. If you have lost someone to cancer, you are not alone. Help is available from Bloomhill.

Bereaved clients are encouraged to consider their own well-being, as they have often been care-givers for many years.

Seeing the Exercise Physiologist for an exercise program, joining the gym sessions, Pilates or yoga classes or having a relaxing massage can all help with the physical recovery in grief. Some bereaved clients will benefit from individual grief counselling from our counsellor or psychologists.

I’m in survivorship

Bloomhill Cancer Care provides specialised post-treatment support focused on addressing the side effects and health concerns that remain for many patients after their treatment is completed or for those on long-term maintenance treatment.

Clients can access specialist oncology nurses and allied health professionals as well as attend group activities that will support those people who have completed cancer treatments to develop a healthy lifestyle, improve quality of life and decrease the risk of cancer re-occurrence.

We aim to help enhance the overall quality of life of survivors by addressing psychological well-being and providing support and information to reduce treatment related side effects.

Your nurse can assist with referrals to our multi-disciplinary team which includes a psychologists, an exercise physiologist, dietitian, counsellor, acupuncturist, massage and lymphoedema therapists.

You can also join in a range of group activities to improve mind and body well-being by attending our group activities such as yoga and Pilates, gym circuits and group fitness, Qi Gong, mindfulness meditation and a range of support groups.

Survivorship is a state of mind, rather than a defined stage.

We invite people who see themselves as survivors to get in touch with Bloomhill and work with one of our nurses to develop your personalised care plan.

Most will have completed cancer treatment within the past 3-4 years or will be receiving maintenance treatment.

I’m a doctor / health professional

Would your clients or patients benefit from community-based integrative oncology support?

Bloomhill Cancer Care offers a multidisciplinary care team approach led by clinical nurses, which integrates a range of health and wellbeing services to maximise the quality of life for cancer patients and their carers at all points of their cancer journey.

Bloomhill clients often remark at how convenient it is to come to the one place for several specialist appointments. Compared to clinical environments many of our clients spend time in through treatment and beyond, Bloomhill is a calm, home-like sanctuary where the pace is slower and the needs of individuals honoured.

The fact that clients can access a number of services, from exercise physiology to nursing support, psychology or touch therapies, is particularly valuable to those suffering fatigue and clients who are unable to travel independently.

Our model of care is person-centred and utilises the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) domains of wellness along with available clinical evidence to inform all care activities. Support is provided at all stages from the time of diagnosis, during treatment, into the survivorship, dealing with recurrence or during palliation.

Bloomhill is committed to improving the lives of those touched by cancer, harnessing knowledge gained from lived experience, clinical expertise, empirical research and innovation.

While no two clients’ care experience at Bloomhill will be the same, one of the things that’s consistent across all care we provide is high quality.

Following several years under the ISO 9001 quality framework, in 2021 we achieved Australian Council on Health Care Standards (ACHS) EQuIP6 accreditation. With our enhanced quality systems in place we will continue to have a strong level of clinical and corporate governance.

Thank you for your interest. Please contact us or navigate the side bar menu to find out more about specific services, or refer a patient.

If you prefer to send a paper copy of a referral, our fax number is (07) 5445 5438.
