Educational Talk: Here to Live! Stories from Ovarian Cancer Survivors
FREE FOR BLOOMHILL CLIENTS & THEIR PARTNER/CARER. No rsvp required:
Hosted by Merran Williams who is a 15 year ovarian cancer survivor. She has had two recurrences, the last one three years ago. A retired registered nurse, she was the recipient of a Churchill Fellowship in 2011 when she travelled to several major cancer centres in the USA to research cancer survivor programs. She was also a gynaecological clinical nurse and researcher and has worked in oncology.
Every year in Australia, 1815 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer. As most cases are already advanced at diagnosis, it is often difficult to treat. The focus of this relaxed, friendly get together, is to share what strategies women use to keep well. We encourage women who have had ovarian cancer and their family and friends to come along to this Talk.
Our focus will be to:
• Have a brief overview of ovarian cancer facts
• Some information on latest treatments
• Hear what Merran has done to stay well and focused on this journey
• Listen to several woman tell us what they have also found most helpful
