No rsvp required:\nTammy will be available for information sessions about her nurse practitioner position.\nPlease feel free to bring your questions to Tammy. No pre-booking is necessary as these will be informal short sessions to learn more about what services she can provide.\nWhat is a nurse practitioner and what do they do?\nA nurse practitioner is the highest advanced clinical practice nurse. They are trained at a master’s level and are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) the same as other medical professions. They work as an integrative part of your healthcare team and collaborate with your oncologist and GP to provide the best care for you.\nSome of the things an oncology nurse practitioner can do include: Assessments, diagnosis, and treatments of side effects with your treatments. Order blood tests and if necessary, x-rays or ultrasounds. Prescribe medications as needed for side effects or symptoms from oncology treatments such as chemotherapy. This may include non-pharmacological treatments. Referral to other health practitioners. Education, counseling and support.\nServices provided are also eligible for Medicare Rebates.
